why therapy with me

  1. Why might someone come to therapy?
People come to therapy for many reasons, including:

    Feeling overwhelmed or stuck

Wanting to change how they feel

    Needing support with relationships

Coping with loss, change, or uncertainty

Struggling with something they can’t quite name

  2. Do I need to know exactly what’s wrong before starting?
No. You don’t need to have the answers — therapy can help you explore and make sense of what feels unclear.

  3. What approach do you use?
I use a humanistic and integrative approach. This means I don’t follow only one method. Instead, I draw on different approaches to fit your individual needs.

  4. What will we focus on in therapy?
    We will explore:

    The difficulties you are facing

    Your strengths and values

    Your hopes for the future

  5. Will therapy move at my pace?
Yes. You are in charge of your journey. I will support you to grow and make changes at a pace that feels right for you.

  6. What kind of experience do you have?
I have worked for two years at a city-centre charity, supporting a wide range of emotional needs, as well as my private practice.

  7. What qualifications do you have?

I have a 1st Class BSc Honours degree in Humanistic & Integrative counselling from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI)

  8. Do you have lived experience of neurodivergence?
Yes, I was diagnosed with ADHD in my late 30s and I have a progressing autism diagnosis in my early 40s. This helps me bring a shared understanding to my work with neurodivergent clients.

  9. Do you only work with autistic or ADHD clients?
No, I welcome and work with all adults, whether neurotypical, undiagnosed, or diagnosed neurodivergent.

  10. What is your therapy style like?
Calm, inclusive, and tailored to you. I focus on building a safe and trusting relationship and work in a trauma-informed way.

what to expect

  1. What can I expect in my first session?

Your first session is a chance for us to talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’d like to focus on, and how I work. There’s no pressure to share everything straight away—you can go at your own pace.

  2. How long is a therapy session?

Sessions are 50 minutes long and take place once a week at a regular weekly time, unless we agree otherwise.

  3. How many sessions will I need?

Everyone is different, and it is your decision. I offer mid and longer-term work. We’ll regularly review together so you feel supported in deciding what works best for you.

  4. Is what I say kept confidential?

Yes, what you share is confidential. The only exceptions are if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or if I am legally required to disclose information. I’ll always talk to you first if this ever becomes necessary.

  5. What if I feel nervous or don’t know what to say?

That’s completely normal. You don’t have to arrive with everything worked out. Therapy is a space where you can take your time, and we can gently explore whatever feels important for you.

  6. Do I need to attend every week?

To see the most growth, I recommend not missing more than 2 or 3 sessions during six months, but booking in planned time off is not a problem.

  7. What happens if I need to cancel a session?

I understand emergencies happen; however, please give 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel. Cancellations with less notice will still be charged.

  8. Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, I offer both in-person and online therapy. We can discuss which feels most comfortable for you.

  9. What if I decide therapy isn’t right for me?

That’s okay. You are free to stop at any time. If you’d like, we can reflect on what worked and what didn’t, and I can signpost you to other services.
